本工程是为了改善XX县城内的交通条件而设计，在红星广场与县汽车站之间修建，将来形成快速通道。隧道全长402.33m，净宽10m,净高6.73m，半园拱形断面，曲墙加仰拱（仅Ⅳ类围岩地段无仰拱），洞门为端墙式。洞内纵坡I=4.4%，受两端连接道路标高及地形控制无法降低，进出口路面设计高程相对高差17.703m，为一超规范要求坡限的单洞双车道隧道。本工程包括洞口工程、洞身工程、路面工程、装饰工程，照明工程等项。地震烈度按6度设防。
